The Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon

Since 1940, a neon sign has towered over Bend’s Wall Street casting gold, green and purple illumination onto the marquee below. The Tower Theatre first opened its doors in the early months of World War II and has been an iconic symbol of downtown Bend ever since. With travertine marble imported from Italy, acoustical tiles and an avant-garde women’s lounge gracing its interior, the theater brought Art Deco Streamline Moderne architecture to Central Oregon design at the time.
